About Kim
For Kim Barry, the Placer Union High School District has never just been a workplace, it has been home. As a proud graduate of Placer High School, where she was also a Placer cheerleader, Kim developed a lifelong appreciation for the traditions, values, and sense of community that make the district so special.
After graduating from college, Kim returned to the district that helped shape her future and began a career in education that has spanned more than three decades. She has served as an English teacher, Department Chair, Mentor Teacher, Assistant Principal at Placer High School, Principal of Del Oro High School, and District Office Administrator, working alongside students, teachers, parents, and staff to support educational excellence at every level.
Education has always been a family commitment. Kim is married to Scott Barry, who dedicated more than 30 years to teaching in the Placer Union High School District. Together, they raised two children, Brandon and Kaylee, both proud graduates of Placer High School. Their family's connection to the district spans generations and reflects a shared commitment to public education and the local community.
Throughout her career, Kim has been known for building relationships, listening to others, and bringing people together to solve problems. She believes the best schools are built through collaboration, mutual respect, and a commitment to helping every student reach their full potential.
Kim understands the district from nearly every perspective—as a student, educator, administrator, parent, and community member. Those experiences have given her a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing today's schools and have prepared her to serve effectively on the School Board.
Today, Kim is seeking to continue her lifelong service to the Placer Union High School District by representing Trustee Area 2 on the School Board. She is committed to supporting students, empowering educators, practicing responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources, and preserving the tradition of excellence that has made the district one of the finest in California.

Generations of Commitment
Whether she's spending time with her family, supporting local events, cheering on students, or serving alongside neighbors, Kim believes the strongest communities are built through connection. That belief is deeply personal. Kim, her brother, husband, son, and daughter are all proud graduates of the Placer Union High School District. A legacy that spans generations and reflects her family's enduring commitment to this community. These moments capture the heart she'll bring to serving the families of PUHSD and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive for generations to come.
